Job Purpose
The Cleaner/Helper will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of a newly built five-floor office building in East Jerusalem. This role is crucial for maintaining a healthy and professional work environment for UNICEF staff and visitors. The incumbent will perform deep cleaning, daily maintenance, and monthly deep cleaning tasks across all office facilities, including restrooms, kitchens, common areas, workstations, and windows. Additionally, the role involves supporting catering and hospitality arrangements for events and meetings, ensuring meeting rooms are prepared and tidy, and assisting with general office support tasks such as moving supplies.
Responsibilities
The Cleaner/Helper will undertake daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors; disinfecting surfaces, desks, and high-touch areas; removing trash and sanitizing waste bins; cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, kitchens, and common areas; and refilling dispensers with paper, soap, and other necessary supplies. Monthly deep cleaning responsibilities include carpet cleaning, tile scrubbing, washing interior and exterior windows, cleaning walls, ceilings, and fixtures, and sanitizing staircases and handrails. The role also involves supporting catering and hospitality by organizing events, preparing and cleaning meeting/conference rooms, washing kitchenware, tidying dining areas, maintaining kitchen stock, and assisting staff with meeting room setups and hospitality needs. Furthermore, the Cleaner/Helper may be required to move and carry boxes or small quantities of office supplies as needed, contributing to the overall smooth operation of the office.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in cleaning is required, preferably within international organizations. Experience working in an international organization or embassy is an asset. Ability to work independently and knowledge of cleaning materials and detergents are essential. Handy skills and ability to provide basic maintenance are also considered assets.
