Job Purpose
The Nutrition Officer will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's nutrition programming in Manila, Philippines. This involves contributing to program planning, coordinating implementation, monitoring progress, and reporting on outcomes. Reporting to the Nutrition Specialist, the incumbent will undertake various technical and administrative tasks to facilitate program development, ensure efficient implementation, and achieve measurable results in maternal and child nutrition. A key responsibility will be to support regular reviews of project plans and adapt strategies in response to public health emergencies and recurring natural or human-induced calamities, ensuring preparedness for the next Country Programme cycle.
Responsibilities
The Nutrition Officer will provide essential support to programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and national priorities. They will manage programmes, monitor their progress, and ensure the effective delivery of results, focusing on maternal and child nutrition outcomes. The role involves offering technical and operational support to facilitate the smooth implementation of nutrition interventions. Building and maintaining strong networks and partnerships with government counterparts, development partners, and other stakeholders will be critical for program success. Furthermore, the incumbent will contribute to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the nutrition sector, sharing lessons learned and best practices. This includes supporting regular reviews of project plans and making necessary adjustments in the event of public health emergencies or natural disasters, ensuring program resilience and continuity.
Work Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience is required in areas such as maternal and child nutrition, public health, or health and nutrition programme implementation. Experience in planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on nutrition programmes and projects is essential. Proficiency in nutrition data and information management, including data quality assurance, analysis, and utilization of routine information systems for decision-making, is also necessary. Experience providing technical and operational support to government counterparts and coordinating with development partners and stakeholders at national and/or subnational levels is required.
