Job Purpose
The Programme Officer (Digital Education) will support the implementation of UNICEF Brazil's digital education strategy, focusing on school connectivity and the pedagogical use of digital resources. This role involves leading advocacy efforts, developing and implementing connectivity initiatives, designing digital skills projects for educators and students, and promoting the use of digital tools to enhance learning quality and equity. The officer will consolidate data, support national advocacy, adapt Giga tools, coordinate with stakeholders, and provide technical support to governments and institutions. The aim is to ensure consistent implementation, monitoring, and integration of digital education initiatives into UNICEF's country program, contributing to improved learning outcomes and inclusion for children and adolescents.
Responsibilities
The Programme Officer (Digital Education) will provide technical and operational support for digital education and connectivity initiatives in UNICEF Brazil, coordinating with the Chief Education, the Giga team, and the Global UNICEF Education team. This role serves as the primary focal point for connectivity and digital education with national stakeholders, including government entities, private sector players, civil society, and ITU Brazil. Key responsibilities include advocating for equitable and sustainable technology and connectivity models, supporting data analysis on connectivity and monitoring systems to generate evidence for accountability and improved learning outcomes, and ensuring coordinated planning, implementation, and monitoring of initiatives. The officer will also support local partners in implementing school connectivity and digital education models, oversee the design, implementation, and quality monitoring of initiatives with national and local governments, and maintain coordination with key stakeholders. This includes engaging with regional offices, education authorities, and schools, and supervising implementing partners to ensure alignment with UNICEF’s digital education outcomes.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of professional experience in project management or managing educational programs using digital education in public schools is required. Experience developing educational programs for vulnerable populations, including Indigenous and quilombola communities, and residents of remote areas is essential. Strong experience in engaging and coordinating with diverse national and regional partners, including government entities, telecommunications regulators, international organizations, and civil society, is also required.
