Job Purpose
The WASH Officer (Emergency) will report to the Chief of WASH and provide technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process. This role involves preparing, managing, and implementing various tasks related to the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH output results within the country program. The position is crucial for ensuring effective WASH interventions, particularly in emergency contexts, contributing to the overall goal of ensuring children's survival, development, and protection.
Responsibilities
The WASH Officer (Emergency) will be responsible for programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and national priorities. They will manage, monitor, and deliver results for WASH programmes, including humanitarian preparedness and response activities. This includes providing technical and operational support for programme implementation, such as designing and overseeing WASH infrastructure projects and maintenance. The role also involves networking and building partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and UN bodies to enhance WASH outcomes. Furthermore, the officer will contribute to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the WASH sector, ensuring best practices are shared and adopted. This includes reporting on program activities, analyzing data, and contributing to policy discussions related to national WASH policies.
Work Experience
At least 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in WASH programming is required. This includes experience in programme management, monitoring and evaluation, behavior change communication, public health engineering, project management, emergency preparedness and readiness, government and NGO partnership management, UN agency collaboration, capacity building, proposal development, and WASH infrastructure management.
