Job Purpose
The Supply and Logistics Officer reports to the Head of Operations or Supply and Logistics Manager/Specialist. This role provides technical and operational support within the Country Office, managing supply chain elements for a small country office or specific parts of a larger operation. The responsibilities encompass planning, procurement, contracting, customs clearance, warehousing, in-country transport, and distribution. Additionally, the incumbent will monitor supplies, services, and construction works, supporting programmatic needs through effective supply chain interventions.
Responsibilities
The Supply and Logistics Officer is responsible for managing the supply chain operations of a country office, or elements thereof. This includes planning, procurement, and contracting of supplies, services, and construction works. The role involves overseeing customs clearance processes, managing warehousing facilities, and coordinating in-country transport and distribution networks. A key aspect is the monitoring of all supply chain activities to ensure efficiency and compliance. The officer will collaborate with programme sections to identify and implement supply chain strategies that effectively meet programmatic objectives. This includes providing technical and operational support, ensuring timely delivery of essential goods and services, and contributing to the overall operational effectiveness of the UNICEF Country Office in Sudan.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in supply chain management, logistics, procurement, or a related area is required. Experience in an international organization or developing country context is an asset.
