Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to develop a Gender-Responsive Climate Education Curricular Framework for Primary and Lower-Secondary Education in Dar Es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania. The consultant will produce a framework aligned with the Tanzanian National Curriculum and ensure its harmonization with the Upper Secondary Framework, thereby guaranteeing continuity and coherence across the entire education system. This initiative is crucial for integrating climate change education effectively into the national curriculum, equipping young learners with the knowledge and skills needed to address climate challenges and contribute to sustainable development.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for developing a comprehensive Gender-Responsive Climate Education Curricular Framework for primary and lower secondary education in Tanzania. This includes aligning the framework with the existing Tanzanian National Curriculum and ensuring its seamless integration with the Upper Secondary Framework to maintain vertical coherence. The consultant will produce pedagogical resources and frameworks that effectively integrate climate science, promote active pedagogy, and adhere to policy requirements. Key tasks involve collaborating with the Ministry of Education, curriculum agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the framework's relevance and applicability. The consultant will also be responsible for ensuring the framework is gender-responsive, addressing the specific needs and perspectives of all genders within the context of climate education. The final output will be a robust framework that supports the effective teaching and learning of climate change concepts across primary and lower secondary levels.
Work Experience
A minimum of 8 years of experience working in the Tanzanian education sector and curriculum implementation. At least 5 years of experience in climate education and curriculum development, particularly for primary and secondary levels. Proven track record in developing pedagogical resources and frameworks. Experience collaborating with education ministries and multi-stakeholder networks.
