Job Purpose
The Driver-Conductor (G-2) plays a crucial role in the safe and effective implementation of UNICEF operations in Venezuela. By ensuring reliable transportation, adherence to local traffic laws, and UNICEF's safety protocols, the driver contributes to program continuity and the overall credibility of UNICEF's presence. This temporary appointment for 3 months is vital for supporting operational needs, especially in the context of the complex socio-economic situation and recent humanitarian emergencies in Venezuela, which have increased the needs of children and adolescents. The role ensures that UNICEF staff and essential supplies can reach vulnerable populations, facilitating the delivery of critical services in health, nutrition, education, and protection.
Responsibilities
The Driver-Conductor is responsible for providing secure and dependable transportation services, strictly adhering to local traffic regulations and established UNICEF protocols. This includes the routine care, maintenance, and preparation of the assigned vehicle to ensure its optimal functioning and safety. The role requires the proficient use of digital tools and tracking systems for monitoring vehicle location and travel. Accurate documentation and reporting of all trips, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents, are mandatory. The driver must maintain effective communication, be prepared for emergencies, and possess knowledge of airport protocols and customer service standards. Additionally, the position involves providing support to office operations during periods when driving duties are not required, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to supporting the team's overall objectives. This includes utilizing VHF/HF radiocommunications and digital tools effectively.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of proven safe driving experience is required. Experience in country-level humanitarian contexts, particularly in development settings, fragile environments, and humanitarian situations, is essential. Knowledge of the Caracas metropolitan area's transportation and orientation is also required.
