Job Purpose
The Research Intern will support UNICEF's Digital Impact Division, specifically the Barcelona Tech Delivery team and the Strategic Partnerships team in Geneva. The internship focuses on researching and analyzing the accessibility of schools, health centers, and other infrastructure, particularly in the context of climate emergencies like floods, with a focus on child-facing facilities and digital connectivity in the Global South. The intern will contribute to scientific writing, detailing the methodology and results of their research. This role offers a valuable opportunity to learn about UNICEF's global mission and operations, enhance analytical and technical skills, and gain exposure to an international work environment through engaging research projects.
Responsibilities
Conduct research and geospatial analysis on the accessibility of schools, health centers, and other critical infrastructure, with a specific focus on their vulnerability during climate emergencies such as floods. Prioritize child-facing facilities and digital connectivity issues, particularly in regions of the Global South. Assist in the scientific writing process, documenting the research methodology, data analysis, and findings. Support the Tech Delivery team and the Strategic Partnerships team in their ongoing projects and initiatives. Contribute to the development of innovative, technology-enabled solutions to support UNICEF's global programs. Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and timely completion of research tasks. Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on digital inclusion strategies. Assist in preparing reports and presentations based on research outcomes. Maintain organized records of research data and sources. Stay updated on relevant trends and developments in digital inclusion, climate resilience, and geospatial analysis.
Work Experience
Knowledge of relevant climate and geospatial data sources and processing techniques is required. Expertise in Python is required. Experience in scientific writing and data analysis is beneficial.
