Job Purpose
The Security Officer reports to the CFO or Security Manager for supervision. This role provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance to the supervisor to manage a range of activities on security planning, management, and risk assessments. The primary objective is to ensure the safety and security of personnel and their eligible family members, and to safeguard UNICEF premises, assets, and resources at the duty station. This involves proactive measures and responsive actions to mitigate security risks and maintain a secure environment conducive to UNICEF's operations and the well-being of its staff.
Responsibilities
The Security Officer is responsible for Security Risk Management and Planning, which includes conducting regular security risk assessments, developing and implementing security plans, and ensuring compliance with UN security policies and procedures. They will provide Safety and Security Services, offering guidance and support to staff on security matters, managing security incidents, and coordinating emergency response. This includes overseeing the physical security of UNICEF premises and assets. The role also involves Security Networking and Partnership Building, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with UN security focal points, host government security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to enhance information sharing and collaborative security efforts. Furthermore, the Security Officer will contribute to Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Capacity Building by identifying opportunities for security improvements, sharing best practices, and delivering security training to UNICEF staff to enhance their awareness and preparedness.
Work Experience
At least 2 years of professional experience in global security risk management and/or security analysis is required.
