Job Purpose
On behalf of the UN Resident Coordinator and UNICEF as the Lead Participating UN Organization (PUNO), the consultant will spearhead strategic communications, visibility, knowledge management, documentation, and programme closure communication for the Empowered Women Prosperous Nepal (EWPN) Joint Programme. Reporting to the Gender Programme Specialist (Joint Programme Coordinator), the consultant will provide essential technical support in planning, coordinating, producing, and disseminating high-quality communication products. These products will effectively document programme achievements, amplify results, meet donor visibility requirements, and enhance knowledge sharing among participating UN organizations, government counterparts, media partners, and other stakeholders. The role involves close coordination with communications focal points from all participating UN organizations, technical leads, implementing partners, media production companies, the European Union (EU), and Government counterparts to ensure timely delivery of communication products that adhere to EWPN/UN branding and visibility standards.
Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of strategic communications, visibility, knowledge management, documentation, and programme closure communication activities for the EWPN Joint Programme. Provide technical support for planning, coordinating, producing, and disseminating high-quality communication products that document programme achievements, amplify results, and support donor visibility requirements. Strengthen knowledge sharing across participating UN organizations, government counterparts, media partners, and other stakeholders. Coordinate closely with communications focal points from all participating UN organizations, technical leads, implementing partners, media production companies, the European Union (EU), and Government counterparts. Ensure timely delivery of communication products aligned with EWPN/UN branding and visibility standards. Develop and edit high-quality communication and visibility products, including human-interest stories, publications, press releases, multimedia content, social media materials, and knowledge products. Manage multiple communication assignments and deliver high-quality outputs within tight deadlines. Coordinate media production, photography, videography, and publication processes. Develop knowledge products, document lessons learned, and promote organizational learning. Apply gender-responsive, inclusive, and rights-based communication approaches. Ensure good knowledge of donor visibility requirements.
Work Experience
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, public information, media relations, knowledge management, advocacy, or development communications. Demonstrated experience in developing high-quality communication products and coordinating communication activities with multiple stakeholders. Experience supporting communication and visibility for development programmes, donor-funded projects, or joint programmes is required. Experience with UN agencies, international organizations, or development partners is an asset.
