Job Purpose

The Technical Assistant (G5) supports the Nutrition Early Child Development Education Centre (NCDC) within UNICEF Supply Division (SD) in Copenhagen. Reporting to the Supply Technical Specialist, this role is crucial for the technical review of education goods to support UNICEF programmes worldwide. The position involves collaborating with the contracting team and ensuring that education items meet required standards. The Technical Assistant will contribute to the effective functioning of the NCDC by managing technical specifications, supporting tender processes, and ensuring compliance with international standards, ultimately contributing to the provision of essential educational supplies for children globally.

Responsibilities

The Technical Assistant will be responsible for reviewing and updating technical specifications and requirements for education items, ensuring their completeness and appropriateness for tender processes. This includes proposing creations and amendments to materials within the commodity range directly in the material master database. The role involves drafting preliminary desk reviews and sample evaluations for tenders in consultation with the supervisor. Diversifying the geographic spread of product suppliers by exploring UNGM, reviewing ReOI responses, and responding to supplier queries is also a key responsibility. The Technical Assistant will prepare lists of potential pre-qualified suppliers for tender invitations and forward them to the contracting team. Furthermore, the position contributes to maintaining compliance with applicable international and regulatory standards in supply chain operations, particularly for regulated products, and adheres to internal procedures to ensure product safety and quality. Assisting in monitoring Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) and moisture control reports, and investigating deviations in partnership with the Quality Assurance & Policy Centre are also part of the duties. The role includes managing the Supply Catalogue and Education intranet webpages, ensuring content is regularly updated and accurate, and performing other assigned duties, including attending to routine work and preparing meeting minutes in the supervisor's absence.

Work Experience

At least 5 years of relevant administrative work experience in Supply Management, contracting, procurement, Quality Assurance, Product Evaluation, or related fields is required. Previous experience in product technical specification review and product quality/safety compliance is essential.
