Job Purpose
UNICEF Cameroon aims to improve access to quality and inclusive education, especially in crisis-affected communities. This role is critical for delivering sustainable, inclusive, and high-quality learning environments in disadvantaged areas by supporting innovative construction projects for primary schools, including multi-media centres, e-hubs, classrooms, and teachers’ housing. The incumbent will ensure the integration of child-friendly, eco-friendly, and equitable access concepts into all construction projects, mitigating risks of inferior quality, non-adherence to standards, and delays. This position is essential for assuring high-quality standards, timely completion, and effective coordination among stakeholders through technical monitoring and oversight of school rehabilitation and construction works.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the supervisor (Chief Field Office or Logistics Specialist) and guidance of the Construction Officer, the Administrative Associate (Construction) provides essential administrative and logistical support for construction activities implemented by local partners, financed and supervised by the Country Office. This includes coordinating and planning construction projects, supporting procurement processes, monitoring construction works on-site, and conducting evaluations and reporting. The role involves close collaboration with UNICEF Education Programme and Operations to ensure construction interventions meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children. The incumbent will offer high-level organizational and operational support to project managers, engineers, and executives, managing project documentation, tracking budgets, processing vendor payments, and coordinating project logistics to ensure smooth and efficient construction workflows. This contribution is vital for maintaining UNICEF's credibility as an effective fund manager and enhancing its image as an organization delivering cost-effective, sustainable program results for children.
