Job Purpose
The Chief Education, P-5, will provide strategic leadership, technical direction, management, and accountability for UNICEF Lebanon’s education program. This role involves leading planning, implementation, monitoring, partnerships, resource mobilization, and evidence-based advocacy. The objective is to ensure UNICEF's education work is rights-based, equity-focused, gender-responsive, disability-inclusive, and results-oriented, coherently linking humanitarian response, recovery, and system strengthening. The position requires leadership across the humanitarian-development nexus, collaborating with various sections and field offices to advance integrated programming and engaging on cross-border and regional dimensions of the crisis affecting education access and continuity.
Responsibilities
The Chief Education will provide managerial leadership, overseeing the education section's operations and staff. They will be responsible for programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's global and country-specific strategies. This includes programme management, monitoring, and quality control of results to ensure effective delivery and impact. The role involves providing advisory services and technical support to government counterparts and partners on education policy and programming. Furthermore, the Chief will lead advocacy, networking, and partnership building efforts with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, donors, UN agencies, and civil society. Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building for staff and partners will also be key functions, fostering continuous learning and improvement within the education program.
Work Experience
At least 10 years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education at the international level is required.
