Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this consultancy is to support the UNICEF D&A nutrition team in collating data and conducting data analysis to develop the first global database for school-age children and adolescents aged 5-19 years. This initiative follows the launch of the Global Monitoring Framework for school-age children and adolescent nutrition and guidance on assessing diets for this age group. The incumbent will also be responsible for identifying new data sources, performing quality assurance, and analyzing available microdata. This work is crucial for the ongoing maintenance of existing Global Nutrition Databases and the integration of the new school-age and adolescent nutrition database into the existing pipeline, ensuring comprehensive data for child nutrition globally.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for supporting the D&A nutrition team in the collation and analysis of data to establish a new global database for school-age children and adolescents (5-19 years). This includes identifying and integrating new data sources to enhance the database's scope and accuracy. The role involves conducting rigorous quality assurance on collected data and performing detailed analysis of available microdata. Furthermore, the consultant will contribute to the ongoing maintenance and improvement of UNICEF's existing Global Nutrition Databases. A key aspect of the role will be to ensure the seamless integration of the new school-age and adolescent nutrition database into the established Global Nutrition Databases pipeline. This requires meticulous attention to detail in data management and analysis to ensure the reliability and utility of the data for global nutrition monitoring and reporting, ultimately supporting UNICEF's mission to improve child nutrition outcomes.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience analyzing nutrition indicators using household survey data. Experience with STATA, R, or similar statistical software and Microsoft Office is required. Experience analyzing diet data and managing global databases is an asset.
