Job Purpose
The consultant will be responsible for conducting an operational research on the effectiveness of SBC and gender transformation approaches for improving community-based nutritional practices in PiASN areas. This role involves designing research protocols, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, and producing high-level analytical reports. The consultant will coordinate research teams and ensure the capitalization of findings. The objective is to enhance nutritional practices through evidence-based strategies, contributing to UNICEF's mission of improving child well-being and development. This consultancy is crucial for informing future programming and interventions in nutrition and gender transformation.
Responsibilities
Conduct operational research on the effectiveness of SBC and gender transformation approaches for improving community-based nutritional practices in PiASN areas. Design research protocols, including methodology, sampling, and data collection tools. Coordinate and manage research teams, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards. Analyze qualitative and quantitative data using appropriate software (SPSS, Stata, R, or NVivo). Produce high-level analytical reports detailing research findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Facilitate the capitalization of research findings for knowledge sharing and future programming. Ensure the research aligns with UNICEF's strategic objectives and mandates. Engage with stakeholders at community and national levels to gather insights and validate findings. Monitor the progress of the research activities and report regularly to the supervisor. Contribute to the development of evidence-based strategies for nutrition and gender transformation in community settings.
Work Experience
Minimum 8 years of professional experience in nutrition, applied or operational research, and monitoring and evaluation of development programs. At least one similar research mission on SBC, gender, and nutrition. Proven experience in coordinating research teams.
