Job Purpose
The CEO's primary mandate is to provide strategic leadership to the Generation Unlimited (GenU) partnership, driving the development and execution of its vision, mission, strategic objectives, and operational plans. This role involves representing the GenU partnership to a wide array of stakeholders, including governments, public and private sector organizations, civil society, policymakers, opinion leaders, supporters, media, and the general public. The CEO is accountable to the GenU Board, serving as an ex officio member and actively participating in its decision-making processes. The position requires a visionary leader capable of fostering collaboration and driving impactful initiatives for youth worldwide.
Responsibilities
The CEO is responsible for leading the GenU Global Team in delivering the partnership's vision and strategy, working closely with the GenU Board and Global Leadership Council. This includes developing, implementing, and reviewing strategies in coordination with GenU partners and UNICEF. The CEO ensures the overall management of the Global Team's work, encompassing technical assistance to GenU countries, global innovations, resource mobilization, communication, advocacy, youth engagement, financial and human resource management, risk management, and quality assurance. A key responsibility is serving as the chief spokesperson and representing the GenU Partnership at high-level global events, building cooperative relationships with public and private partners, and driving a stronger partnership with the private sector. The CEO also works with the Board to ensure an effective global resource mobilization strategy, achieving fundraising objectives and overseeing the efficient delivery and reporting of funds to GenU programmes. Furthermore, the CEO is tasked with building and maintaining a high-performing organization, fostering an empowering, values-based culture, and ensuring effective governance and risk management within the GenU partnership.
Work Experience
Minimum of 15 years of senior leadership and management experience, ideally as a Chief Executive in a complex operating environment. Proven ability to operate effectively in an international or multi-lateral setting, managing diverse stakeholders. Track record in revenue and influence growth. Skilled communicator with excellent political judgment and ability to work across cultures. Experience in education, skills development, or youth employment is desirable.
