Job Purpose
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for organizing the Joint Nutrition Programme Steering Committee (SC) meetings, ensuring the effective delivery and monitoring of results. This role involves providing technical and operational support throughout the programme implementation phase. Key accountabilities include contributing to advocacy efforts, fostering networking, and building partnerships to advance the programme's objectives. The coordinator will also be instrumental in evidence generation and knowledge management, ensuring that lessons learned and best practices are captured and disseminated. This consultancy aims to strengthen the Joint Nutrition Programme's impact and sustainability in Sierra Leone, aligning with UNICEF's broader mission to support children's well-being and development.
Responsibilities
Organize and facilitate Joint Nutrition Programme Steering Committee (SC) meetings, ensuring timely preparation of agendas, documentation, and follow-up actions. Monitor and ensure the delivery of programme results against established targets and timelines, providing regular progress reports. Offer comprehensive technical and operational support to programme implementation teams and partners, addressing challenges and facilitating solutions. Lead and contribute to advocacy initiatives aimed at promoting nutrition and food security policies and programmes. Develop and maintain strong networks with government agencies, UN partners, NGOs, donors, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and synergy. Drive evidence generation through research, data collection, and analysis, and manage knowledge effectively by documenting best practices, lessons learned, and case studies. Support proposal development and financial management for donor-funded programmes, ensuring compliance with requirements. Implement monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks, tracking key indicators for nutrition, food security, and climate resilience. Manage complex, multi-partner workplans, ensuring effective coordination and timely execution of activities. Contribute to policy processes, national planning, and budgeting related to nutrition and climate change adaptation. Build capacity of partners and stakeholders to enhance programme effectiveness and sustainability. Represent the programme at national and regional meetings and donor forums, effectively communicating progress and advocating for support.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in program management of development or humanitarian programmes or projects. At least 4–6 years of experience managing multi-stakeholder or multi-partner programmes or projects in Sierra Leone. Experience in nutrition and food security programming and familiarity with climate resilience/adaptation approaches is essential. Experience with donor-funded programmes, including proposal development and reporting, is required.
