Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide crucial technical leadership and programme guidance to operationalize the Clean Air for Healthy Children agenda. This involves delivering expertise in air-quality monitoring and data analysis, conducting exposure and health-impact assessments, maintaining a global knowledge library, offering direct support to Country Offices, and coordinating cross-UN reporting. The consultant will act as a key technical resource, ensuring scientific quality and standardizing methods from UNICEF’s Bangkok Centre of Excellence, while also translating global standards into locally appropriate approaches for Country Offices.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide sustained technical leadership from UNICEF’s Bangkok Centre of Excellence to standardize methods, ensure scientific quality, and offer rapid authoritative inputs to programmes, proposals, and interagency products. They will translate global standards into locally appropriate monitoring and programmatic approaches, prioritizing and delivering direct technical support to Country Offices. Expertise will be provided on monitoring strategy, sensor QA/QC, data governance, emissions inventories, source attribution, and exposure/health impact assessment. The consultant will broker specialist inputs from universities and technical partners, serving as UNICEF’s primary focal point for cross-UN agency report generation on air pollution and child health. Additionally, they will maintain and expand a global knowledge library, produce accessible technical resources, and deliver targeted capacity building for Country Offices and partners.
Work Experience
Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience entailing technical assistance to governments. Proven experience in drafting programmes and strategies, research, and policy advocacy.
