Job Purpose
The Child Protection Specialist will lead and support programmes focused on violence against children, strengthening response services and case management systems to achieve sustainable results that uphold children's rights and well-being. Reporting to the Chief, Child Protection, the Specialist will support programme development and be responsible for the management, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of child protection programmes and projects within the country programme. This role is crucial for facilitating the administration and achievement of concrete contributions to national and international efforts to create a protective environment for children against all harm, ensuring their rights to survival, development, and well-being as established by international conventions and frameworks. The Specialist will be the responsible manager for output on response services for child protection, with a focus on social work and case management, contributing to results according to plans and UNICEF's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
The Child Protection Specialist will support the development and planning of child protection programmes and projects, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic goals and equity focus. Key responsibilities include managing, monitoring, and delivering results for child protection programmes, ensuring effective implementation and timely reporting. The Specialist will provide essential technical and operational support throughout the programming cycle, facilitating the administration and achievement of concrete and sustainable contributions to national and international efforts to create a protective environment for children. This involves protecting their rights to survival, development, and well-being as established under the Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international treaties. A significant part of the role involves managing the output on response services for child protection, with a specific emphasis on social work and case management. Furthermore, the Specialist will engage in networking and partnership building with relevant stakeholders to enhance programme effectiveness and sustainability. Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building for national partners and UNICEF staff will also be critical functions, ensuring continuous improvement and long-term impact in child protection efforts.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in child protection, programme development, case management, gender-based violence, justice for children, program management, monitoring and evaluation, partnership building, advocacy, capacity building, and social work-related areas is required.
