Job Purpose
The UNICEF Social Policy section supports governments in developing effective and equitable social and economic policies and programmes to realize children's rights. This role focuses on routinely measuring child poverty, addressing its drivers, and reflecting commitments to reduce it in policies and budget allocations. It aims to mobilize financing for child poverty reduction by enhancing government capacities to use domestic resources efficiently and effectively, leveraging private sector resources, and collaborating with partners to identify innovative financing options for sustainable, child-sensitive national fiscal responses. Additionally, it strengthens local governance structures to plan, budget, and deliver child-sensitive social services, engaging children, adolescents, caregivers, and communities in pathways out of poverty and exclusion.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide coordination support for the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) and social protection initiatives. This includes facilitating communication and collaboration among various stakeholders, including government ministries, UNICEF sections, and implementing partners, to ensure alignment and effective implementation of social protection programs. The role involves supporting the generation and analysis of evidence related to child poverty and social protection, contributing to policy recommendations and program design. The consultant will assist in monitoring the progress of NSER-related activities and social protection interventions, identifying challenges and proposing solutions. They will also support capacity building efforts for government counterparts and partners in areas such as data management, program coordination, and evidence-based policy making. Furthermore, the consultant will contribute to the development of reports, briefs, and other communication materials to disseminate findings and promote best practices in social protection. This position requires strong analytical, research, and coordination skills to effectively synthesize complex data and facilitate multi-stakeholder engagement.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in finance, evidence generation, data and research within the development sector, and coordination. Experience working with multiple stakeholders across Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and governments is required.
