Job Purpose
The Operations Manager will be entrusted with the five pillars of operations functions, acting as a strategic Business Partner to ensure the best use of UNICEF assets in alignment with sound management practices, office priorities, and goals to deliver results for children. The ability of the Operations Manager to effectively implement operations functions for efficient service delivery directly impacts program performance, resource mobilization, and the delivery of results for children. This role contributes to maintaining and enhancing UNICEF's credibility as an effective and responsible manager of funds and resources, furthering its image as a competent organization for delivering cost-effective and sustainable program results in both regular and emergency settings.
Responsibilities
Key functions and accountabilities include facilitating services in the functional areas of operations support, encompassing budget management, financial management and reporting, facilities management, general administration, and supply and logistics management. The role also involves overseeing information and communications technology (ICT) support. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that all operational activities are conducted in compliance with UNICEF's policies, procedures, and financial regulations. This includes developing and implementing operational plans, managing the operations budget, and providing guidance and oversight to the operations team. The position requires close collaboration with program sections to ensure seamless operational support for program delivery and to identify opportunities for operational efficiencies. The Operations Manager will also play a key role in risk management related to operations and contribute to the development and implementation of the country office's strategic plan.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in operations management, finance, administration, or a related field. Experience in a UN or international organization is an asset.
