Job Purpose
The Senior Finance Associate plays a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's financial operations by executing a variety of specialized finance tasks. Under the supervision of the Finance Officer, this position ensures the accurate and timely delivery of financial functions, strictly adhering to UNICEF's financial rules and regulations. A key aspect of the role involves demonstrating the capacity to research, adapt, and evaluate irregular financial cases, providing critical insights for resolution. Furthermore, the associate is expected to proactively recommend improvements to existing process delivery and design, contributing to enhanced efficiency and compliance within the finance department. This role is vital for maintaining financial integrity and supporting informed decision-making across the organization, ultimately contributing to UNICEF's mission of promoting children's rights globally.
Responsibilities
The Senior Finance Associate is tasked with providing robust support and oversight to transactional teams, ensuring the meticulous processing of financial transactions, adherence to established guidelines, and timely completion of tasks. This includes monitoring financial activities to maintain accuracy and compliance with UNICEF's financial rules and regulations. A critical responsibility involves enabling informed decision-making by meticulously preparing, analyzing, and presenting financial data, reports, and statements to management, offering clear and actionable insights into financial performance and trends. The associate is also expected to proactively drive process improvement initiatives, identifying inefficiencies, proposing innovative solutions, and implementing changes to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of financial operations. Effective stakeholder management is key, requiring collaboration with various internal departments and external partners to ensure seamless financial coordination, resolve issues, and foster strong working relationships. Furthermore, the position actively supports system enhancement projects, contributing to the development, testing, and implementation of new or improved financial management systems and tools, thereby strengthening the overall financial infrastructure and operational capabilities of UNICEF.
Work Experience
At least seven years of clerical experience in the area of finance and accounting is required. This experience should encompass areas such as Accounting and Auditing, Financial Management, Operations and Reporting, Process Improvement, Internal Controls, Risk Management, Data Analysis, Project Management, Stakeholder Management, Systems Implementation, and Root Cause Analysis.
