Organizational Context
UNICEF works in over 190 countries to save children’s lives and defend their rights. The organization is implementing Ethiopia’s Global Partnership for Education (GPE) System Transformation of Education Programme (STEP) for Girls and Learning, aiming to strengthen education systems and improve learning outcomes. The Programme Associate will support the STEP Programme Management Team.
Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the GPE Programme Manager (P4), the Programme Associate provides specialized programme and administrative support to facilitate the development, implementation, and monitoring of UNICEF's programmes, with a specific focus on the STEP programme. This role involves significant engagement in data analysis, budget tracking, reporting, supply management, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery and compliance with organizational rules. The incumbent will exercise judgment, anticipate needs, and recommend actions to enhance programme planning, implementation, and reporting results, contributing to the overall success of the STEP initiative and UNICEF's mission in Ethiopia.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate will be responsible for supporting the timely delivery of the STEP programme and results-based reporting. Key duties include project management and coordinating implementing partnerships, ensuring effective collaboration with government ministries, NGOs, and donors. The role involves robust data management, analysis, and reporting to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Grant management, budget monitoring, and financial reporting are critical functions to ensure accountability and efficient resource utilization. The incumbent will also contribute to digital innovation initiatives and operational efficiency within the programme. Communication, knowledge sharing, and dissemination of programme findings are essential. Furthermore, the role includes supporting capacity building efforts and coordinating events. The Programme Associate will provide flexibility and surge support as needed within the Education Programme Section, potentially supporting sector-specific teams or cross-cutting portfolios, ensuring seamless programme operations and compliance with UNICEF's standards.
Work Experience
At least 6 years of relevant work experience in administration, financial accounting, grant financial management, financial reporting and analysis, clerical work, or related fields is required.
