Job Purpose
UNICEF Malawi is seeking a dynamic and committed Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist to provide technical leadership and support to strengthen results-based management across the office. The role focuses on enhancing the design and implementation of the Country Programme monitoring and evaluation framework in line with UNICEF and national standards. It ensures robust monitoring systems are in place for high-quality data collection, validation, and analysis across programme sectors. The specialist will analyze data and contribute to high-quality corporate and donor reports, support the planning and utilization of evaluations to improve programme performance, and work closely with government and partners to strengthen national data and monitoring systems. Capacity building of staff and partners in monitoring, evaluation, and data use is also a key aspect to foster a strong results-based culture.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and support to strengthen results-based management across the UNICEF Malawi office. Enhance the design and implementation of the Country Programme monitoring and evaluation framework in line with UNICEF and national standards. Ensure robust monitoring systems are in place to support high-quality data collection, validation, and analysis across programme sectors. Analyze data and contribute to the development of high-quality corporate and donor reports that inform evidence-based decision-making. Support the planning, commissioning, and utilization of evaluations to improve programme performance and learning. Work closely with government and partners to strengthen national data and monitoring systems. Build the capacity of staff and partners in monitoring, evaluation, and data use to foster a strong results-based culture. Contribute to generating actionable insights, strengthening learning, and improving the impact of programmes for children, adolescents, and women across Malawi. Support the design and implementation of robust M&E frameworks, ensuring timely and accurate tracking of results.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of relevant professional work experience in monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, or programme performance management. Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing M&E frameworks, including indicators, baselines, and targets. Experience supporting programme planning processes, including annual work planning and review processes. Experience in results-based management (RBM) and performance monitoring frameworks.
