Job Purpose
The WASH Officer reports to the WASH Specialist and provides technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process. The Officer prepares, manages, and implements a variety of technical and administrative tasks related to the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH output results for the country programme. This role is crucial in coordinating efforts within Ukraine's water supply and sanitation sector, which has suffered significant damage. The position ensures coherence across workstreams and supports UNICEF's institutional credibility with donors financing recovery efforts.
Responsibilities
Develops and updates WASH situation analyses, researches sector trends, and prepares technical documentation to support the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH programmes. Provides technical and administrative support throughout the programming cycle, tracks deliverables, and promotes coordination and coherence across approximately 30 embedded WASH specialists and key sector platforms. Collaborates with colleagues, government counterparts, and partners to collect, analyze, and share programme implementation information, identify shortcomings, and recommend timely adjustments to the programme. Contributes to the development of WASH programme goals, strategies, and objectives, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's global and country-specific priorities. Assists in the preparation of relevant WASH documentation, reports, and proposals for fundraising and resource mobilization. Supports the monitoring and evaluation of WASH activities, ensuring that results are measured and reported accurately. Facilitates communication and information exchange among stakeholders, including government ministries, NGOs, and community representatives, to ensure effective programme delivery and sustainability.
Work Experience
Two years of relevant professional experience in WASH programming, project management, or a related field. Experience in emergency or humanitarian contexts is an asset.
