Organizational Context
UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. At UNICEF, we are committed, passionate, and proud of what we do for as long as we are needed. Promoting the rights of every child is not just a job – it is a calling.
Job Purpose
The consultant will conduct a comprehensive assessment of UNICEF Lebanon's office space with the objective of enhancing the overall workplace environment, improving space utilization, and promoting fairness and transparency in workspace allocation across sections. Working closely with the Operations Section, the Staff Association, and designated focal points, the consultant will assess the current office layout, identify opportunities for improvement, and consult with stakeholders to understand functional needs, staff well-being considerations, and operational requirements. Based on the assessment, the consultant will develop practical design options that optimize the use of available space while improving collaboration, privacy, accessibility, comfort, and employee experience. The proposed solutions should balance functionality, cost-effectiveness, and future organizational needs, and where feasible, incorporate shared wellbeing spaces such as a cafeteria area, meditation/wellness room, and child-friendly room.
Responsibilities
The consultant will independently assess UNICEF Lebanon's office premises and develop practical, equitable, and cost-effective recommendations that optimize workspace utilization, enhance staff wellbeing and collaboration, and support a fair distribution of office space across sections while considering current and future operational needs. This includes conducting physical assessments of UNICEF offices, holding meetings with staff associations and section representatives, and potentially a dedicated committee. The consultant is expected to deliver an Inception & Workplace Assessment Report detailing findings and initial recommendations. The assignment will culminate in a recommended office layout supported by implementation guidance and a detailed cost estimate to facilitate future decision-making and phased implementation.
