Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this assignment is to establish a Long-Term Agreement (LTA) with skilled Graphic Designers to provide professional and high-quality graphic design services. These services are essential for developing a wide array of communication and visibility materials, encompassing print, digital, social media content, branding elements, and advocacy campaigns. The selected consultants will support various UNICEF Zambia programme sections, including Education, Health, HIV/AIDS, Social Policy, Child Protection, Nutrition, Climate, Water and Sanitation, and Social and Behaviour Change. The aim is to ensure that all visual communication products are compelling, aligned with UNICEF's brand guidelines, and effectively support advocacy, resource mobilization, programme awareness, and stakeholder engagement. This LTA will create a pool of qualified service providers capable of efficiently responding to recurring visual communication requirements, ultimately enhancing audience engagement through innovative storytelling that highlights UNICEF’s impact for children and communities in Zambia.
Responsibilities
The LTA holder will be responsible for conceiving, designing, and producing a diverse range of visual communication materials, including briefs and short reports, to effectively illustrate and enhance communication surrounding UNICEF’s work and critical issues affecting children. This includes expertly laying out and designing written documents in strict adherence to corporate brand guidance. A key responsibility involves reviewing and selecting appropriate images from UNICEF’s online database, ensuring they complement the design and layout while strictly following UNICEF’s ethical imagery and caption guidelines. Consultants will also be tasked with developing engaging infographics for various programme sections and key advocacy themes. All final and raw materials must be provided to UNICEF Zambia through electronic transfer to a public drive. Furthermore, the role entails delivering high-quality graphic design and visual communication materials that consistently align with UNICEF branding and communication guidelines, supporting various sections with creative and impactful visual content for advocacy, fundraising, programme implementation, and public awareness initiatives. Ensuring the timely delivery of all visual communication products, such as publications, reports, infographics, social media content, presentations, and campaign materials, is crucial, as is promoting consistency in visual identity and messaging across all UNICEF communication channels to enhance audience engagement through innovative and compelling visual storytelling.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in graphic design is required, coupled with expertise in prepress and print technology, including quality and appropriateness of design, and design for social media. Candidates should demonstrate proven experience designing for international organizations, NGOs, development agencies, or corporate clients, specifically in social media campaign content, messaging, and branding. Experience in creating animations or animated videos is also beneficial.
