Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide technical support to the Government in strengthening national child protection systems. This involves a focus on developing and implementing parenting programmes, advancing the agenda on violence against children, including in online settings, and enhancing sector-wide coordination. The consultant will work under the general guidance of the Child Protection Specialist to ensure effective strategies and interventions are developed and implemented, contributing to the overall goal of protecting children's rights and well-being within the national framework. This role is crucial for building robust child protection mechanisms and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for providing technical support to the Government in strengthening national child protection systems. Key areas of focus include the development and implementation of parenting programmes, aiming to equip parents with the necessary skills and knowledge to support their children's development and well-being. Additionally, the consultant will advance the violence against children agenda, with a specific emphasis on addressing online risks and vulnerabilities. A significant part of the role involves strengthening sector-wide coordination among various government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders involved in child protection. This includes facilitating dialogue, developing joint strategies, and ensuring cohesive implementation of child protection policies and initiatives. The consultant will also be responsible for documenting good practices and lessons learned from these efforts to inform future programming and policy development. Furthermore, the role entails fostering partnerships and engaging with donors to secure support for child protection initiatives.
Work Experience
A minimum of 8 years of professional work experience in child protection is required. This includes at least 5 years of experience in supporting governments to design, implement, and coordinate child protection programmes.
