Job Purpose
The consultant will be embedded within the Central Medical Store to support the Government of Nepal in strengthening immunization supply chain systems. This support will align with the National Immunization program operations, Gavi priorities, and CCEOP objectives, focusing on enhancing the performance, reliability, and visibility of vaccine and immunization commodity management across the national system. The role is crucial for ensuring the uninterrupted availability of vaccines and related commodities by supporting end-to-end supply chain functions, including stock management, forecasting, quantification, and coordinated distribution to subnational levels. A key aspect will be strengthening data quality, real-time monitoring, and the utilization of digital systems like PAMS to foster evidence-based decision-making and improve system efficiency and accountability.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide comprehensive support to the Government of Nepal in improving immunization supply chain systems, focusing on vaccine and commodity management. This includes managing stock levels, forecasting needs, and quantifying required supplies to ensure uninterrupted availability at all levels. The consultant will enhance data quality and implement real-time monitoring systems, leveraging digital tools such as PAMS for improved decision-making. Responsibilities also encompass strengthening the monitoring and reporting of key supply chain performance indicators, including stock status, distribution efficiency, and wastage rates, in accordance with national guidelines and Effective Vaccine Management (EVM) standards. Furthermore, the consultant will deliver targeted technical assistance and on-the-job capacity building to government counterparts, focusing on enhancing vaccine management practices, optimizing cold chain operations, and refining inventory control systems to ensure the integrity and efficacy of the immunization supply chain.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional work experience in immunization supply chain and vaccine management. Demonstrated knowledge of immunization program management and inventory management is required.
