In Niger, a country with a predominantly young population, UNICEF is implementing a Young Internship Programme to support the employability of young Nigeriens, providing structured practical experience and professional development.
Job Purpose
The UNICEF Niger Young Internship Programme aims to identify, train, and support young talents in various intervention areas, while addressing the operational needs of sections. This initiative will provide interns with six months of practical and enriching experience, structured mentorship, exposure to the functioning of an international organization, and the development of professional skills. It also allows UNICEF Niger to strengthen its commitment to youth inclusion, knowledge transfer, and the development of national human capital. The intern will contribute to strengthening the generation, management, analysis, and use of socio-behavioral data within the Social and Behavior Change (SBC) section to inform decision-making and improve program quality.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Social Behavior Change, the intern will contribute to strengthening the generation, management, analysis, and utilization of socio-behavioral data within the SBC section of UNICEF. This will involve supporting data collection activities, assisting in the organization and maintenance of databases, and contributing to the preliminary analysis of socio-behavioral data. The intern will also help in the preparation of reports and presentations based on data findings, ensuring that information is accessible and useful for decision-making. Additionally, the intern will support the SBC team in monitoring and evaluating program activities related to social and behavioral change, by assisting in the collection and analysis of relevant data. This role requires close collaboration with program staff to understand data needs and to ensure that data generated is relevant and timely. The intern will also be involved in learning and applying UNICEF's data management tools and protocols, and may assist in capacity building activities for partners related to data management and use.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is required, but an understanding of data collection and analysis principles is beneficial. Experience in a professional or academic setting demonstrating organizational and analytical skills is a plus.
