Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Chief Field Office Deir-ez-Zor, the Education Officer provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for education programmes/projects within the Country Programme. This includes development planning, execution, management, implementation, progress monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of various technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate effective programme development and delivery of results, ensuring that the right to education for every child is realized.
Responsibilities
The Education Officer will support programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic goals and country-specific needs. They will manage and monitor programmes to ensure timely and effective delivery of results, providing technical and operational support to programme implementation. This includes fostering networking and partnership building with relevant stakeholders to enhance programme reach and impact. The role also involves driving innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the education sector. Key accountabilities include contributing to the development of education strategies, work plans, and budgets, as well as monitoring and evaluating programme performance against set objectives and indicators. The officer will also be responsible for preparing regular progress reports, identifying and addressing challenges, and ensuring compliance with UNICEF's policies and procedures.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in the field of education is required, demonstrating practical application of theoretical knowledge.
