In Niger, with a predominantly young population, UNICEF is implementing a Young Internship Programme to support the employability of young Nigeriens by providing structured practical experience and exposure to international organizations.
Job Purpose
The UNICEF Niger Young Internship Programme aims to identify, train, and support young talents in various intervention areas while meeting the operational needs of its sections. This internship, under the direct supervision of the Chief of Social Behavior Change, will contribute to strengthening community engagement and population participation in SBC interventions to foster sustainable and inclusive social and behavioral changes. The intern will gain practical experience, structured mentorship, exposure to international organization operations, and develop professional skills, while UNICEF Niger reinforces its commitment to youth inclusion, knowledge transfer, and national human capital development.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the planning and implementation of community engagement activities, including dialogues, social mobilization, and citizen participation. They will strengthen community participation and accountability mechanisms (AAP), including the collection and use of feedback. The intern will contribute to the analysis of socio-behavioral data from communities to inform SBC interventions and support the mobilization of adolescents, youth, and community leaders in local decision-making processes. They will also participate in documenting and valorizing good practices in community engagement and social mobilization. Specific support will be provided to participatory activities, co-creation initiatives with communities, community feedback mechanisms, and community mobilization for program participation. Additionally, the intern will assist in collecting and analyzing community data (perceptions, norms, barriers), contribute to synthesis production, support the implementation of community activities, and produce materials. They will also contribute to documenting activities and results.
