Job Purpose
The Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant internship aims to provide young Nigerien graduates with practical experience in monitoring, evaluation, and data management within UNICEF Niger. This role will support the direct supervisor in the technical and operational aspects of the program's monitoring and evaluation function. The intern will assist in data collection, compilation, cleaning, and analysis from various systems, support programmatic sections in tracking the implementation of programmatic visit plans, and contribute to the capitalization and dissemination of lessons learned and best practices. This internship is designed to enhance the employability of young talents, familiarize them with international organization standards, and contribute to UNICEF's operational needs while fostering national human capital development.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist or Section Chief, the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will provide technical and operational support to the entire program's monitoring, evaluation, and data management function. Key responsibilities include supporting the collection, compilation, cleaning, and analysis of program monitoring data from national and UNICEF internal systems. The intern will assist programmatic sections in monitoring the implementation of programmatic visit plans and contribute to the capitalization and dissemination of key lessons learned and best practices derived from program implementation. Additionally, the role involves participating in field monitoring missions for programmatic visits and contributing to the monitoring and analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The intern will also be expected to demonstrate UNICEF's core values and competencies, including establishing and maintaining partnerships, cultivating self-awareness and ethical conduct, delivering tangible results, and innovating and embracing change.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is required, but candidates should possess strong analytical, synthesis, and report-writing skills in French. Proficiency in common office software and familiarity with at least one database management or visualization software (e.g., Power BI, SPSS, STATA, R) is highly desirable.
