Job Purpose
The Nutrition Officer supports the design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of nutrition programmes, with a particular focus on addressing urban nutrition challenges. Through technical leadership and programme management support, this role contributes to the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based interventions that improve maternal, infant, and child nutrition outcomes. Working within results-based management approaches and UNICEF’s strategic priorities, the officer helps ensure effective programme delivery, accountability, and sustainable results for vulnerable children and families in Sudan.
Responsibilities
Key functions and accountabilities include supporting programme development and planning, managing programmes, and delivering results. The role involves providing technical and operational support to programme implementation, fostering networking and partnership building, and contributing to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building. The Nutrition Officer will be responsible for ensuring that nutrition programmes are aligned with UNICEF’s strategic priorities and effectively address urban nutrition challenges in the country. This includes monitoring programme progress, evaluating impact, and reporting on outcomes to stakeholders. The position requires active engagement with partners to leverage resources and expertise, and to promote best practices in nutrition interventions.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in Monitoring and Evaluation, Programme Management, Nutrition, Public Health, Maternal and Child Health, Urban Nutrition, Emergency Response, Policy and Advocacy, Partnership Development, or Capacity Building.
