Job Purpose
The UNICEF internship programme provides a framework for students pursuing or having recently completed tertiary education to gain practical work experience. This internship aims to support the UNICEF Gulf Area Office (GAO) in designing, planning, organizing, and reporting on child-oriented sessions and activities during key events such as the DIHAD, a Water conference in December, and COP 31 in November 2026. The intern will gain valuable exposure to UNICEF's work and contribute to important initiatives related to climate and child rights, enhancing their educational experience through hands-on involvement in significant international forums.
Responsibilities
The intern will be responsible for compiling all facts and following up on updates regarding two UAE-based events and the COP in Turkey. A key task will be to keep track of governmental and private sector child-focused engagements across all these events. The intern will also support the design of specific sessions and activities related to children for all three conferences. Furthermore, they will be tasked with reporting on and compiling stories from the three events, specifically highlighting the UAE's engagement in these critical discussions. This role requires proactive engagement, meticulous record-keeping, and creative input in developing event content, contributing directly to the success of UNICEF's participation in major climate and humanitarian forums.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is required, but exposure to political and ethical discussions about water and climate, and an expressed interest in climate issues, is beneficial. The internship is designed to provide practical experience.
