The Democratic Republic of the Congo is responding to its 17th Ebola Virus Disease outbreak, requiring a multi-sectoral approach to community engagement, surveillance, and continuity of essential services for vulnerable populations.
Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Chief, Child Protection Officer, and in close coordination with sectoral and cross-sectoral specialists, government counterparts, UN agencies, NGOs and implementing partners, the Child Protection Officer will provide technical, operational and administrative support for child protection and MHPSS interventions in Ebola-affected areas. The incumbent will support programme planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and coordination to ensure timely, quality and results-based delivery of child protection services for children, families and communities affected by the outbreak. This role is crucial in ensuring effective and equitable response efforts, particularly for children and at-risk communities in a complex and evolving humanitarian context.
Responsibilities
The Child Protection Officer will be responsible for programme development and emergency response planning, ensuring that child protection interventions are integrated into broader emergency response strategies. They will oversee programme implementation, monitoring, and reporting, tracking progress against objectives and ensuring timely and quality delivery of services. A key aspect of the role involves coordination and partnership support, working closely with government counterparts, UN agencies, NGOs, and implementing partners to foster collaboration and synergy. The incumbent will also contribute to capacity building, quality assurance, and knowledge management, sharing lessons learned and best practices to enhance program effectiveness. This includes providing technical and operational support for child protection and MHPSS interventions in Ebola-affected areas, ensuring that services are delivered effectively to children, families, and communities.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection related areas is required.
