Job Purpose
The Nutrition Officer will contribute to the integrated response in the Democratic Republic of Congo, addressing security, nutrition, and epidemic challenges. This role involves improving the coverage and quality of nutrition services, strengthening health and nutrition systems, and ensuring effective coordination among stakeholders. The officer will promote essential practices like Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) as part of a multisectoral approach aligned with national priorities and UNICEF's country programme. Key functions include service delivery, systems strengthening, sector coordination, data utilization, and advocacy for nutrition, all within the context of a complex, evolving humanitarian crisis.
Responsibilities
The Nutrition Officer will be responsible for Programme Planning and Implementation, ensuring that nutrition interventions are effectively designed and executed within the emergency response framework. This includes developing work plans, setting objectives, and managing resources to achieve program goals. The role involves Monitoring, Evaluation, and Data Management, collecting and analyzing data to track progress, identify challenges, and inform decision-making. Coordination and Technical Support will be crucial, working closely with government counterparts, partners, and other UN agencies to ensure a cohesive and effective response. Capacity Building and Advocacy will involve strengthening the skills of local partners and advocating for policies and practices that support child nutrition. Partner Management and Compliance will ensure that all partners adhere to UNICEF standards and agreements. Supply and Logistics Management will oversee the procurement and distribution of essential nutrition supplies. Finally, Partnerships and Community Engagement will focus on building strong relationships with communities and stakeholders to ensure the relevance and sustainability of nutrition programs.
Work Experience
At least two years of relevant professional experience in nutrition, including planning, managing, and implementing emergency nutrition programs. Experience with UN, international organizations, or NGOs, including field experience in Africa, is required.
