Job Purpose
The Child Protection Officer provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance for UNICEF Türkiye’s programming on Children On the Move (COM). This role facilitates programme development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, ensuring children on the move are identified, protected, and supported according to child rights standards and country programme documents. The officer will work within the Country Programme (2026-2030) and collaborate with key government bodies like the Presidency of Migration Management, Ministry of Family and Social Services, and Ministry of Justice.
Responsibilities
The Child Protection Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on programme activities for children on the move, including refugees, asylum seekers, unaccompanied and separated children, and trafficked/smuggled children. This involves strengthening case management, guardianship, referral mechanisms, and alternative care systems. The role requires bridging migration governance and child protection systems to ensure effective integration into national structures. The officer will promote a continuum of care from identification to durable solutions through enhanced cross-sectoral coordination with counterparts such as PMM, MoFSS, law enforcement, and the justice sector. The position is essential for driving a coherent child protection systems strengthening approach, moving beyond fragmented interventions toward a unified and child-centred strategy.
Work Experience
Two years of relevant professional experience in child protection, social work, or programme management, preferably in a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with children on the move or in migration-related programming is an asset.
