Job Purpose
The Driver provides essential, reliable, and safe driving services, strictly adhering to local traffic regulations and UNICEF's established protocols. This role demands the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, integrity, and adaptability, alongside a keen awareness of organizational protocols. Beyond driving, the incumbent is expected to actively support various administrative tasks during periods when not engaged in driving duties, and to commit to continuous self-directed learning to enhance their skills and knowledge. A client-oriented approach, coupled with courtesy, tact, and a strong sense of responsibility, is crucial. The Driver must also demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds, ensuring a harmonious and productive working environment.
Responsibilities
The Driver is primarily responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for UNICEF staff, officials, and visitors, ensuring strict adherence to all local traffic laws and UNICEF safety and security protocols. This includes planning optimal routes, managing schedules effectively, and ensuring timely arrivals and departures to support program activities. A key duty involves conducting comprehensive routine vehicle care, including daily checks of oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, and lights, and ensuring the vehicle is always clean, well-maintained, and in optimal operational condition for immediate use. The Driver will also be responsible for proficiently utilizing digital tools and tracking systems for efficient fleet management, navigation, and security purposes. Accurate documentation of all trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance records is essential for accountability and reporting. Furthermore, maintaining effective communication channels and ensuring emergency readiness, including knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures, is vital for responding to unforeseen circumstances. During periods when not actively driving, the incumbent will support various office operations and administrative tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency and smooth functioning of the UNICEF office.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required. This experience should be in areas such as logistics, fleet management, field operations, administrative support, travel operations, protocol, or within an embassy or international organization setting.
