Job Purpose
The Procurement Assistant, G-5, will support the Child Survival Centre (CSC) within UNICEF Supply Division in Copenhagen. This role is crucial for assisting with the procurement cycle of essential medicines and related health products. The incumbent will help maintain optimal stock levels, plan replenishment cycles, and ensure the timely availability of these critical supplies. This support is vital for efficient kit packing, emergency response, and programme implementation. The position focuses on the commercial function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of requisitions and orders to meet customer needs and requirements, ultimately contributing to UNICEF's mission of saving children's lives and defending their rights.
Responsibilities
Assist in the end-to-end procurement process for pharmaceutical supplies, health technology, medical equipment, diagnostics, and WASH supplies for the Child Survival Centre (CSC).
Support the maintenance of accurate inventory records and monitor stock levels to ensure adequate supply of essential medicines and health products.
Assist in planning and executing replenishment cycles, coordinating with suppliers and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery.
Process requisitions, purchase orders, and other procurement-related documentation accurately and efficiently.
Liaise with internal stakeholders, including programme sections and logistics, to understand their supply needs and provide updates on procurement status.
Support the CSC in executing procurement strategies aimed at reducing market barriers and scaling up demand-driven product innovation.
Assist in gathering market intelligence and supplier information to support procurement planning and negotiations.
Ensure compliance with UNICEF procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Contribute to the digitalization of supply chain processes within the CSC.
Provide administrative support for tender processes, including preparation of tender documents and evaluation of bids under supervision.
Assist in resolving issues related to procurement, delivery, and payment of supplies.
Maintain effective communication with suppliers and vendors to ensure smooth operations and timely resolution of queries.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in procurement or administrative functions within a commercial environment is required. Experience in international tendering, dealing with regulated products, or working in a multicultural environment is desirable.
