Job Purpose
The consultant will undertake a mid-term review of the WASH Gender Landscape Analysis (GALA) in Nigeria, reporting to the Gender and Development Manager and the WASH Officer. This review will utilize mixed-methods, gender-responsive, and participatory approaches to assess progress, identify gaps, and provide insights to inform adaptive programme management. The consultant is expected to produce high-quality, evidence-based outputs within tight deadlines, contributing to the effective implementation and refinement of WASH and gender-related programming. The role involves extensive engagement with stakeholders at national and community levels, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive review process.
Responsibilities
Undertake a mid-term review of the WASH Gender Landscape Analysis (GALA) in Nigeria using mixed-methods, gender-responsive, and participatory approaches. Assess progress made in the GALA initiative, identifying key achievements and areas where objectives have not been met. Identify significant gaps and challenges encountered during the implementation of the GALA. Provide actionable recommendations to inform adaptive programme management and future strategies. Conduct qualitative research, including Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and apply participatory methods. Analyze data to synthesize findings and draw evidence-based conclusions. Prepare and submit high-quality reports detailing the review findings, analysis, and recommendations within the stipulated timeframe. Facilitate stakeholder engagement and communication at national and community levels. Ensure adherence to ethical standards and quality assurance throughout the review process. Collaborate with government institutions, UN agencies, NGOs, and community stakeholders. Apply expertise in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) to the review process.
Work Experience
At least 7–10 years of professional experience in public health, WASH, gender equality, women’s empowerment, or community development. Demonstrated experience in conducting gender analyses/assessments/evaluations, preferably in WASH. Proven expertise in MEL, including evaluations. Experience in qualitative research methodologies and applying gender evidence to programming.
