Organizational Context
UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. At UNICEF, we are committed, passionate, and proud of what we do for as long as we are needed. Promoting the rights of every child is not just a job – it is a calling.
Job Purpose
As the Technology for Development Associate, you will provide day-to-day operational, technical and coordination support to UNICEF Guinea's Technology for Development portfolio. You will assist the Technology for Development Specialist in identifying, deploying and sustaining digital solutions that strengthen programme delivery across all sectors. In Guinea, where ICT infrastructure is limited and digital literacy varies widely, you will play a hands-on role in user support, system configuration, field-level capacity building and documentation. This role bridges the gap between programme ambitions and technical implementation and contributes directly to the Country Office's digital transformation agenda. You will work closely with programme staff across Health, Nutrition, WASH, Education, Child Protection and Social Policy sections; support coordination with government ICT counterparts (e.g., ANAFIC, Ministère de la Santé, MEPU-EC); and may provide guidance to ICT support staff or consultants in field offices.
Responsibilities
Key functions and accountabilities include: Operational T4D Support and ICT Service Management; Digital Solution Deployment and Field Support; Cybersecurity, Data Protection and System Compliance; Portfolio Coordination and Knowledge Management; Capacity Building and User Training; Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement Support; and Digital Innovation and Emerging Technology Support. The role involves supporting the identification, deployment, and sustainability of digital solutions to enhance programme delivery. It requires hands-on user support, system configuration, capacity building, and documentation, especially in contexts with limited ICT infrastructure and varying digital literacy. Collaboration with programme sections and government ICT counterparts is essential, along with potential guidance to other ICT staff.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in Information Technology, digital solutions, or a related field is required. Experience in supporting technology for development initiatives or in a similar role within an international organization is highly desirable.
