Job Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to provide national-level coordination and strategic leadership of the WASH Cluster in Myanmar. This role is crucial for ensuring a coherent, evidence-based, and prioritized WASH response to the complex humanitarian crisis. The coordinator will strengthen partner coordination, enhance analysis of the WASH situation, and improve response monitoring. A key aspect of the role involves ensuring robust WASH inputs into inter-cluster coordination mechanisms and the Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HPC), thereby advocating for and integrating WASH needs into the broader humanitarian strategy. This position is essential for addressing the significant WASH challenges faced by vulnerable populations in Myanmar.

Responsibilities

Provide national-level coordination and strategic leadership for the WASH Cluster in Myanmar. Ensure a coherent, evidence-based, and prioritized WASH response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Strengthen coordination among WASH partners, including government agencies, NGOs, and UN agencies. Enhance the analysis of the WASH situation, identifying key needs, gaps, and priorities. Improve the monitoring of the WASH response, tracking progress against objectives and identifying areas for improvement. Ensure robust WASH inputs into inter-cluster coordination mechanisms, contributing to a holistic humanitarian response. Facilitate the integration of WASH considerations into the Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HPC) and other strategic planning processes. Advocate for the rights and needs of children and communities related to water, sanitation, and hygiene. Support the development and implementation of WASH strategies and guidelines. Foster collaboration and information sharing among cluster members. Represent the WASH Cluster in relevant forums and meetings.

Work Experience

Experience in coordinating humanitarian responses, particularly in WASH, is essential. Proven track record in managing complex projects and working in challenging environments.
