Job Purpose
The Health & Nutrition Specialist holds primary responsibility for the comprehensive development, meticulous planning, effective implementation, rigorous monitoring, and thorough evaluation, alongside the administration of the Health & Nutrition Primary Health Care (PHC) programme within the country programme. This pivotal role ensures the provision of effective technical and programme support, facilitating the precise application and strategic adaptation of UNICEF policies and strategies. The specialist is accountable for achieving critical strategic priorities and objectives, driving the expansion of UNICEF-assisted Health & Nutrition interventions, and making significant contributions towards the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals agenda. Ultimately, the purpose is to champion the fundamental right to health for every child through robust program management, strategic partnerships, and dedicated technical expertise.
Responsibilities
Timely sectoral analysis, input, and support are provided to contribute to the Situation Analysis and its periodic update, ensuring effective project planning, development, and management. Quality technical contributions are made to the development and implementation of Integrated Health & Nutrition PHC strategies and approaches through active participation and collaboration with both internal and external partnerships. Work plans and objectives are strategically established, implementation support is effectively provided, and planned results are timely delivered through the application of specialized technical expertise. Project implementation progress is continuously monitored and evaluated for necessary adjustments and improvements, ensuring program effectiveness and responsiveness. Technical support is consistently provided to government entities and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) at various stages of project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, including crucial capacity building for government personnel and beneficiaries. UNICEF and Government accountability is meticulously ensured for both supply and non-supply assistance, as well as the transparent disbursement of programme funds specifically allocated for the Gaza PHC Health & Nutrition programme. Effective working relationships with internal and external counterparts are diligently maintained for advocacy efforts, technical coordination, efficient information sharing, and robust knowledge networking. Relevant and strategic information is consistently kept available to support the Health & Nutrition PHC Programme, enabling informed decision-making and program optimization.
