Job Purpose
The Social and Behavior Change Specialist will provide technical and operational support for developing systematic, planned, and evidence-based strategies and processes for Social and Behavior Change (SBC) as an integral part of programme development, planning, and implementation. This role involves generating and utilizing research, data, and evidence to inform the design, measurement, and monitoring of SBC programs in both development and emergency contexts. The specialist will design, plan, and implement SBC activities backed by social and behavioural evidence and strong engagement mechanisms, selecting and employing effective platforms to engage parents and caregivers. Additionally, the role includes advocating for SBC, mobilizing resources, coordinating across stakeholders, and building partnerships, while also promoting continuous learning and capacity building for UNICEF staff and partners in SBC.
Responsibilities
The Social and Behavior Change Specialist is responsible for generating and utilizing research, data, and evidence to inform the design, measurement, and monitoring of SBC programs and outcomes in both development and emergency contexts, thereby building the evidence base for SBC. The role involves designing, planning, and implementing SBC activities that are supported by social and behavioural evidence and robust engagement and participation mechanisms in both development and humanitarian contexts. The specialist will select and employ effective SBC activities and platforms to engage parents and caregivers, integrating evidence-based approaches to achieve sectoral and multi-sectoral outcomes. Furthermore, the position requires supporting the operationalization of SBC by advocating for its importance, mobilizing resources, coordinating efforts across stakeholders, sectors, and teams, and fostering partnerships. The role also includes promoting continuous learning, strengthening, and scaling up of SBC initiatives in both development and humanitarian contexts through capacity building for UNICEF staff and partners.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in social and behavior change, public health, education, child protection, or a related field is required. Experience in developing countries or fragile states is an asset.
