Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Education Specialist, the Education Officer supports the implementation and monitoring of the education transition plan for 2026-27 of UNICEF China Office. This role is responsible for executing, managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on projects focused on adolescent learning and skills within the country programme. The Education Officer provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for education programmes and projects. The aim is to improve learning outcomes and ensure equitable and inclusive education, particularly for children who are marginalized, disadvantaged, and excluded from society, contributing to UNICEF's mission for every child.
Responsibilities
Support programme development and planning by contributing to situation analysis, researching development trends, and reporting on education data. Assist in setting sectoral programme goals, objectives, and strategies, and engage in results-based planning. Provide technical and administrative support throughout programming by executing transactions, preparing documentation, and adhering to organizational processes. Manage, monitor, and deliver results by collaborating with internal colleagues and partners, analyzing implementation issues, and suggesting solutions. Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, programme reviews, and prepare reports. Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources, ensuring compliance with regulations and donor commitments. Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts, NGOs, UN system partners, and other stakeholders on UNICEF policies and best practices in education. Build and sustain partnerships with national stakeholders through information sharing and capacity building. Draft communication and advocacy materials to promote awareness, establish partnerships, and support fundraising for education programmes.
Work Experience
Two years of professional experience in programme planning, management, monitoring, and evaluation in the field of education. Experience working with marginalized or disadvantaged children is an asset.
