Job Purpose
The Symposium aims to advance evidence-informed dialogue on education financing and provide a platform for sharing research, country experiences, financing reforms, and policy innovations that support sustainable and transformative education systems. The event will also showcase country case studies, policy uptake, financing commitments, and lessons emerging from the Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX) initiative and broader education reform efforts across the continent. To support the planning and successful delivery of this significant Symposium, UNICEF seeks a senior and experienced Event Management Consultant to provide end-to-end operational and logistical support. The consultant will provide comprehensive event management support for the planning, coordination, implementation, and post-event closure of the 5th GPE-KIX Africa Research Symposium, working closely with the Symposium Organizing Committee and partner institutions.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide comprehensive, end-to-end operational and logistical support for the 5th GPE-KIX Africa Research Symposium, working closely with the Symposium Organizing Committee. This includes meticulous event planning and coordination, ensuring all objectives and timelines are met. Key responsibilities involve venue sourcing, contracting, and managing all logistical arrangements, from setup to breakdown. The consultant will oversee travel and accommodation coordination for all participants, alongside managing registration processes and providing essential participant services throughout the event. A critical component is the coordination of hybrid conference technology, encompassing virtual participation platforms, audiovisual setup, livestreaming, and interpretation services to ensure seamless engagement for both in-person and remote attendees. Furthermore, the role entails providing robust programme delivery support, managing all communications and visibility efforts to effectively promote the symposium, and ensuring the smooth execution of the event itself. Finally, the consultant will be responsible for all post-symposium activities, including reporting, feedback collection, and financial closure, ensuring a successful and impactful conclusion.
Work Experience
At least seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in planning and managing large-scale conferences, symposiums, ministerial meetings, or comparable high-level events. Demonstrated experience coordinating events involving governments, UN agencies, regional organizations, development partners, or other international organizations. Demonstrated experience managing participant registration, travel, accommodation, venue logistics, protocol, and vendor coordination. Demonstrated experience supporting hybrid events, including virtual participation platforms, audiovisual coordination, livestreaming, or interpretation.
