Job Purpose
The WASH Officer, reporting to the WASH Specialist in Gaza, provides crucial technical, operational, and administrative support throughout the WASH programming cycle. This role involves preparing, managing, and implementing a variety of tasks essential for the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH output results within the country program. A key focus will be on establishing and nurturing partnerships with implementing partners to effectively deliver the WASH program. The position requires a proactive approach to ensure the successful execution of WASH initiatives, contributing directly to UNICEF's mission of improving water, sanitation, and hygiene conditions for children and communities in Gaza.
Responsibilities
The WASH Officer will be responsible for programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and country program goals. They will manage, monitor, and deliver results for WASH programs, overseeing their implementation from inception to completion. Providing technical and operational support for program implementation is a core function, ensuring that activities are carried out effectively and efficiently. The role also includes contributing to humanitarian WASH preparedness and response efforts, ensuring readiness for emergencies and effective action when they occur. Building and maintaining strong networks and partnerships with implementing partners, government bodies, and other stakeholders is vital for program success. Furthermore, the officer will drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the WASH sector, sharing best practices and fostering continuous improvement.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Water & Environmental Sanitation, Humanitarian Assistance, Public Health, Humanitarian Response, Emergency Preparedness, Programme Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Partnership Management, Capacity Building, Policy Advocacy, or Resource Mobilization.
