The HIV/AIDS Officer position is situated within a Country Office where the HIV Programme is a component of the Country Programme or UNDAF, reporting to the Chief HIV/AIDS or HIV/AIDS Specialist.
Job Purpose
The HIV/AIDS Officer reports to the Chief Child Survival and Development for supervision. The Officer provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for HIV programmes/projects within the Country Programme, from development planning to results delivery. This involves preparing, executing, managing, and implementing a variety of technical and administrative program tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, progress monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of results. The role is crucial for supporting the realization of every child's right to a future by addressing HIV/AIDS challenges within the country's context.
Responsibilities
The HIV/AIDS Officer is accountable for supporting programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and country-specific needs. They will manage, monitor, and ensure the delivery of results for HIV programmes and projects, tracking progress and identifying areas for improvement. The role involves providing essential technical and operational support to programme implementation, working closely with partners and stakeholders. A key responsibility is networking and partnership building to foster collaboration and leverage resources for HIV prevention and response. Furthermore, the Officer will contribute to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the country office and among partners, sharing best practices and lessons learned. This includes staying abreast of the latest developments in HIV/AIDS programming and public health, and applying this knowledge to enhance programme effectiveness and impact.
Work Experience
At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Health, Pediatric health, family health, health research, global health, international health, health policy, health management, environmental health, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, or epidemiology.
