Job Purpose
The Finance Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting UNICEF offices globally across key financial functions, including Payments, General Accounting, Invoice Processing, and Master Data Management. This position is responsible for accurately processing and verifying financial data, ensuring the precision and reliability of information within the organization's ERP systems. A core aspect involves identifying and resolving discrepancies to uphold stringent financial accountability standards. Furthermore, the Finance Assistant will provide essential support to offices and GSSC initiatives by meticulously reviewing documentation for completeness, validity, and adherence to established rules and regulations. Responsibilities
The Finance Assistant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and resolving cases in strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). This includes validating financial data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant policies, while also safeguarding sensitive and confidential information. The role requires proactive coordination with stakeholders to facilitate effective issue resolution. Daily operational support involves contributing to efficient finance workstreams, ensuring high-quality service, and timely communication. The assistant will identify recurring processing issues, flag potential risks, and serve as the primary point of contact for queries, escalating complex cases when necessary. Furthermore, the position entails maintaining and updating knowledge materials, such as step-by-step guides and SOPs, and actively participating in knowledge-sharing activities to foster continuous learning and process improvements. Collaboration with other units is essential to ensure smooth end-to-end transaction flows and effective issue resolution. The assistant must also demonstrate flexibility to support various finance streams, assist management with ad hoc tasks and reports, and contribute to cross-functional coordination and optimization initiatives.
Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in finance and administration or a related field is required. A completed Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution can substitute for three years of experience, reducing the minimum requirement to two years for degree holders.
